    I really liked this quote you posted of Gonzalez-Mena

    I often hear adults telling children that they should be happy. It really bothers me. This may be because once when I was in grade school, the principal told me to smile. I hadn't been frowning but walking and thinking. I told the principal I didn't feel like smiling. Because of my upbringing to smile when not feeling like it was like lying. The principal did not react well to my saying this. She took it as insubordination. I think she told my dad. My dad had to again teach me about all the many types of people in the world. What do you think about if a parent were to tell you that they wanted the teachers to encourage their child to act happy all the time. After all, we are supposed to respect different cultures. There are many paradoxes I don't understand
